 CityTime 2.5.2
Reviewed on 7 January 2000 by Beng-Yeow Goh

Type: Shareware
Developer: Code City Australia
Price: US$17.95
Program Size: 102kb

It seems that the Australians have a thing for clocks, after the review of Clock+ 3.05, I received CityTime from Code City which is also based in Australia. Let's take a look at what CityTime has to offer.

Similar to Clock+, CityTime allows you to customize the local time of up to four cities with the time of the home city on the top right hand corner as seen in the screenshot on the right. The outstanding feature that CityTime has here is its World Map which allows you to customize the clock to the time of the nearest city by simply tapping onto the map, it also comes with DST indicators to allow us to identify which cities are now in daylight savings time. However, do note that customizing of time is only via selection of the home cities.

Wonder if that's why the Clock is named CityTime :)

CityTime's comprehensive list of Cities and its ability to automatically and accurately adjust the Palm's date and time when travelling to other cities, means that your Palm will always be insync in terms of time no matter where you are travelling in the World.

CityTime also comes with a Time Calculators which proves to be useful to frequent travellers as this will allow them to calculate their time accurately for meetings and even flight arrival times.

As you can see from the screenshot on the left, it is complete with time, date, day of the week. That's about just the info you need to have everything covered

Just as I was evaluating CityTime, a Muslim friend of mine pointed out Sun Rise/Set feature will prove useful to Muslims during their fasting month, the period when they fast from sun rise to sun set. As the time of sun rise and sun set is well determined by CityTime, it proves useful for many who needs the time of sun rise and sun set.

The Verdict

An other quality clock from Australia, CityTime has the ability to sync the time and date of the Palm in sync to the change of the Home City, this together with the DST Indicators, the Time Calculator and the Sun Rise/Set function, makes CityTime THE World Clock for Palm Users.

The Good

  • Accurate World Clock
  • DST Indicator
  • Fully Customizable City Database
  • Syncs Palm Date and Time with Date and Time of Home City
The Bad

  • Lack for support for international time formats
Rating (1-5)
