Screen protectors --- some swear by them, while others deem them an utter waste of money. I happen to be one who strongly believes in screen protectors. Unless you do not care about scratching your screen, having a screen protector on your PDA just makes good sense to me.
There are currently two types of screen protectors in the market today, namely the "stick-on" and the "slide-under". "Stick-on" uses a coat of adhesive to affix the protector to the screen of the handhelds, while the "slide-under" involves sliding the screen protector under the sides of your handhelds.
The new Fazit screen protectors by Palmlifestyle.com belong to the "stick-on" family, but with a bit of a twist. How so? Simply because Fazit is a "stick-on" which does not use an adhesive. Confused? Read on to find out how this works.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Palmlifestyle.com, the company is based in Singapore and has established itself as a third party accessories provider for Palm OS devices, its most successful product being the ScreenFace screen protector which have since overtaken WriteRights on the screens of many Palm OS handhelds in Europe and Singapore.
Unique to the Fazit screen protector is the 3D designs that have been incorporated onto the Graffiti area. Available in five different designs, the 3D designs add a new dimension to the normally boring Graffiti area. It's definitely an interesting touch, and it's a wonder that no-one's thought of sprucing up a screen protector in such a way until now.
As mentioned earlier, the Fazit screen protector does not use an adhesive coating. Instead it uses a coating of an anti-static agent which holds the screen protector securely in place on the screen of the handheld. The use of the anti-static agent also eliminates the possibility of adhesive residue on the screen when the screen protector is exposed to high temperatures.
There are a couple of steps which are essential when applying the screen protector. Firstly, you must wipe down the screen of your handheld, preferably with an anti-static wet wipe which will not scratch your screen, after which you should remove all the fuzz and dust that remains with a dry wipe.
After the screen has been cleaned, peel off the screen protector from the applicator, and, starting from the Graffiti end, position it carefully before finally sliding the rest onto the screen using a credit card. Once you are done, you should have a properly placed, bubble-free installation.
When writing on the clear yet glare-free surface of Fazit, one can expect an experience reminiscent of paper, the closest I have experienced with a screen protector.

Having had a Fazit on my screen for three weeks, I have taken notes, played games on an average of 100 minutes a day, making sure that the entire screen protector (and not just the Graffiti area) has had a good workout all over. I still can not find any new scratches, and the Fazit looks brand new.
I would recommend Fazit to anyone looking to affix a screen protector onto their Palm handheld. A great value for money, the Fazit is available in five different 3D designs and retails at just SGD$19.95 for a pack of 4, which would be more than sufficient for a year's usage.
