Looking for a hard case that is nice looking and feature-packed, offering solid protection and yet not adding bulkiness to the perhaps the smallest Palm? The InnoPocket Deluxe Metal Case for Palm m1xx series meets your demand and protects your investment!
The whole case is made from anodized aluminium with no trace of plastic. With a weight of only 58g, it is probably the lightest PDA case around. The anodized, corrosive-resistant finish coupled with its cool, smooth metallic feel is something that really entices me.
The look of the deluxe metal case is sleek and stylish. Unlike the conventional square metal cases, the InnoPocket metal case is designed according to the profile of Palm m1xx series with the semi-circle rounding at the base, providing both aesthetic appeal and better grip of the PDA. Case dimensions are 128 x 86 x 22mm, which closely follows the 122 x 78 x 22mm dimension of my Palm m125. This product makes itself probably the slimmest m125 metal case on the market so far.
The metal case has two cut-outs for both the stylus and the IrDA port. The stylus can be easily inserted and retrieved without any difficulty. My test also showed that reception of the IrDA port is equally good and not affected by the case at all.
The InnoPocket deluxe metal case is generous in padding. It is completely lined in neoprene. After putting my m125 into the metal case, the fit was so perfect that upon shaking the case, I could feel that the m125 was held snugly in place with no space for any knocks against the case.
One other minor issue here is that the metal case replaces the original flip cover of Palm m125. While this does reduce the bulkiness of the whole unit, the downside is that now you have to open the case first and access the time/date. This is not handy when you are in a rush.
In an attempt to provide complete protection, the deluxe metal case does not have any cut-out at the bottom to allow the Palm m125 to Hotsync while in the case. So for a Hotsync, you will need to remove the unit from the case and sync it in the ordinary way with your cradle. This case does not include a cut-out for the SD card slot at the side to cater for the loading of SD cards. Both have posed a great hindrance as neoprene linings tend to fray if the unit is inserted and removed from the case frequently. You will find this somewhat troublesome unless you HotSync via IrDA.
Its well-designed form factor and smooth feel are probably the essential points to consider if you wish to own an InnoPocket deluxe metal case. Together with the use of anodized aluminium material, this presents a strong protection that will probably surpass any leather cases in the market.
